Each submarine will cost Bt11.25 billion.

They want to use it against whom ?

But it may be more likely that the submarines will be used for the transport of illegal narcotics ...?

The uproar is wrong. We all know the technological advancements the Burmese have. Thailand must be up-to date with their neighbor's military advancements.

22.5bill baht = $713m dollars or $357m per submarine.

Quite a deal when you consider a Sea-wolf class submarine cost $2.8 BILLION and a Virginia class $1.8 BILLION

And what do you think that little bitty pleasure craft can do against high tech you spoke of?Nothing you say? I concur ! What a joke when folks are on their knees from this PLANDEMIC.

A million parts all made & fitted in China by the lowest bidder.. now second-hand

what could possible go wrong?

Many accused the coalition MPs who voted for the purchase of wasting taxpayers’ money at a time when people were suffering severe financial hardship from the virus crisis.

How dare they imply such a thing!  Why are reporters so afraid of making truthful statement?  This is not an accusation, it is an obvious matter of fact.

They might as well buy three Zeppelins for all the use submarines would be in the shallow waters around Thailand.
I’d love to know what scenario the navy envisages for using these submarines. Fighting off the next Japanese invasion?

In reality a sub needs a decent depth to swim around in,  the Gulf does NOT have the depth.   But you need these toys really when you have very hostile neighbours  5555555

They only need to truck them to Sattahip to park them up with the Chakri Naruebet aircraft carrier, open them on children's day each year!

Ahhh yes , but these new Chinese built "Thai Subs" can only accommodate 3 seamen each (or is that semen ?) ... maybe

Obscenely out of touch.

mini sub from the pictures, and then empty of all equipment, as those are considered extras here. Just like buying something that requires batteries and the need for a special tool to open it or put the item together, you need to buy it all separately.

Smart move by the MP's in the middle of all these demonstrations . Let's order two subs , that will keep them quiet and of the streets .

Investments in submarines, high speed trains etcetera seems to be all about the kickbacks. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

the Gulf does NOT have the depth.

Its deeper than the English Channel ---where much larger subs roam, and anyway they will be deployed in the Andaman Sea

But No I don't think they are needed.................but who knows just maybe they will find MH370

for a military that still flies 40 year old A6s and 30 year old F16s, that would be shot out of the sky in any kind of conflict with modern weapons, this is, as usual,  just window dressing and 'toys for the boys'.  Once they lose one, which inevitably they will, (if they ever go to sea), then the uproar from the public will be tremendous.

Just shows a lack of understanding of basic economics. 30 billion Baht going to China will do nothing useful for the Thai economy, other than possibly lowering the Baht's exchange rate. 30 billion Baht distributed freely among, say, the poorest 30 million people would be a big help as they'd mostly go out immediately and spend it on Thai goods in Thai shops or markets.

Just beyond belief, and underlines the government's total contempt for its suffering citizens. They just must have their toys to play with.

Here are two things they might like to bear in mind:

1 - No-one has the slightest interest in attacking Thailand because it has nothing to offer to anyone, nothing that another country might need, so buying defensive items isn't necessary.

2 - Hardware weapons are so last century. Warfare is now carried out in cyberspace, or perhaps the military government hasn't noticed as they don't read the news unless it's all about Thailand.

On the subject of (not) helping the struggling citizens of Thailand, does anyone have any figures on how much one of the richest men in the world has provided to help them through the Covid crisis?

And they're buying two so they'll still have one available when the other breaks down.
