90 day non immigrant visa (category ED) entry at immigration ?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I am French, 37 years old, who has lived in Thailand for about 12-13 years, at first it was tourist visas and then for 5 years non-immigrant O visas with extensions of 2 months because I am a father of Thai Child.. Unfortunately with the pandemie, my "startegy" to be able to stay in Thailand for years is down with the closure of the borders. Yesterday at Samut Prakarn's immigration office they told me that I could only apply for a 1 year extension with the 400,000 baht deposit but I have not this money. So I heard about the ED (education) non-immigrant visa which could allow me to stay in Thailand for 3 more months. Can apply directly at immigration in Thailand. So i would like to get more information about this visa. Thanks in advance.

What type of visa did you use for entry?

A non immigrant visa category ED can only be applied for at immigration if you are on a visa exempt or tourist visa entry.

If you could show proof of 40k baht income you could also apply for the one year extension based upon being the parent of a Thai. The 400k baht in the bank is not the only option.

With help from a school and you entered on a non-o visa you might be able to apply for a extension based upon education.

I have a non immigrant O visa Single Entry (90 days) ...26 december 2019

apply an extension 60 days 14 March 2020 so I can stay in Thailand until 23 May 2020 but Amesty to 26 septembre 2020.

Yesterday I went to Samut Prakarn Office and they told me I already apply for 60 days extension so can not extended it, I can only get a one year extension if I have 400 000 thb cash deposit in Thai bank.

Immigration will accept proof of income from your embassy. Immigration might want proof of your income as a supporting document for it.
