Two returnees found positive in state quarantine

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported two cases in state quarantine over a 24-hour period today (September 3), the 101st day without any domestic case in Thailand since May.

 

Both new cases are asymptomatic.

 

They comprise a 22-year-old male student who returned from Indonesia on August 20 and went into quarantine, with a second test on September 1 showing he was infected, and a 23-year-old female freelance worker who came home from the United States on August 21; a second test on September 1 showed she, too, was infected.

 

Meanwhile, three patients have recovered and been discharged.

 

The number of confirmed cases in Thailand stands at 3,427 (490 in state quarantine). Of these, 92 are in hospital and 3,277 have recovered and been discharged. The death toll remains unchanged at 58.

 

According to Worldometer, as of 10 am the number of confirmed cases globally has passed 26.1 million. Of these, 18.4 million have recovered, 60,617 are in severe condition and 867,347 have died (a death rate of 3.3%).

 

Thailand ranks a healthy 121st for most cases in the world. The US has the most number of infections, with 6.29 million, followed by Brazil (4 million), India (3.8 million), Russia (1 million) and Peru (663,437).
