The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday (September 5) that a weak monsoon trough lies across the upper Central and the upper Northeast regions, while the southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

 

 

Thundershowers and some heavy rains continue over some parts of the country. People in the risky areas should beware of the severe conditions that may cause flash floods and water runoff, the department warned.

 

The department also said that the category 5 typhoon “Haishen” is expected to move to the south of Japan and the Korean peninsula on September 6-7, with no effect on Thailand.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

 

North: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas; minimum temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius, maximum 35-37°C .

 

Northeast: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; minimum temperature 24-26°C, maximum 34-36°C.

 

Central: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 24-26°C, maximum 34-36°C.

 

East: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; minimum temperature 24-26°C, maximum 31-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

 

South (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-26°C, maximum 32-35°C; waves less than a metre high and one metre during thundershowers.

 

South (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 32-34°C; waves a metre high and two metres high during thundershowers.

 

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; minimum temperature 25-26°C, maximum 34-36°C.
