High waves have been battering houses near the shore in Trang’s Libong island for the past five years, and many have been irreparably damaged.

Villagers complain that their calls for help have not resulted in anything concrete so far.

However, they were given some hope when officials Trang’s marine enforcement command centre showed up on Sunday (September 13) and studied the 11 houses had been badly damaged, as well as the trees and power poles that had been knocked over and roads that have been washed away.

As of Monday, the Koh Libong administration organisation had approved Bt20,000 in aid to repair homes.

In addition, Trang’s Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning is planning to build a 300-metre long barrier along the shore and have it completed by 2022. It has earmarked Bt36 million for the project.

If they are stupid enough to build so close to the ocean then they deserve everything they get from nature

Probably a long way from the sea when they were built
