Five people were injured in a multi-bike collision on the railway line road at Soi Noen Plub Wan, Nong Prue Subdistrict on the morning of 16 August.

Rescue teams from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya received the alert at 05:35 and rushed to the scene. A black Honda Scoopy motorcycle, registration from Khon Kaen, was found overturned at the roadside. Three Thai women were injured in the incident.

The collision also involved two Honda PCX motorcycle, both registrations fromChonburi) and carrying two tourists believed to be from the Middle East, who were also injured. All five victims received first aid at the scene before being rushed to hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the Thai women riding and entering the soi, while the group of foreign motorcyclists was travelling along the railway line road. At an intersection, the parties collided, sending riders and motorcycles in different directions.

Nong Prue Police documented the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause of the crash.

Sorry to hear of the 3 Thai women!

Drivers on Railway Rd assume they have the right of way and plow across.  Actually, vehicles crossing the tracks have right of way but there is no clear signage to indicate that.  This true at  all of the many Railway Rd crossings.  Always a challenge to drive through.

Low score for lack of observation

If I'm on a motorbike I don't care who has the right of way I'm slowing down, maybe stopping until it is safe to go.

You may have the right of way but do you want to risk being injured?

Hope all parties have a speedy recovery.

I do exactly the same whilst turning right at traffic lights whilst on Sukhumvit. I don’t care if the light is on green, always watch the oncoming traffic.

Does a plastic bag count as a helmet in Thailand??, also there is one on the ground, who it belonged too is anyone’s guess.   Hoping everyone a quick recovery,  an expensive lesson learned.

Right of way doesn't mean much in Thailand.

Thais are notorious for not looking before entering a soi or changing lanes. I see this all the time by motorbike or car/truck.

Tends to be wise, you are more at risk of serious damage on a bike and chances are a pickup will not slow for you. I want to be sure they are letting me through and ploughing on at 80kph or more is risking life and limb.

They have no education on things like high speeds, right of way, following too close.

Always be on the defensive here.

There is clear signage at the junctions running parallel to the railway lines, yet locals routinely blow through them without a second thought. The rules are obvious, the warnings are visible – but habit and recklessness seem to take precedence over common sense.

One poster on this forum pointed out in the past (after a previous incident), when everyone ignores the junction, those who do follow the rules are left to bear the consequences if they get hit, he pointed out that accidents are the fault of those crossing the railway line... which is of course technically incorrect.

The fault isn’t theirs – it’s a direct result of a culture of carelessness and disregard for safety that has become normalised.
