Thailand's immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong "Big Oud" Chingduang and IB officers from Region 3 announced the arrest of ten Chinese nationals working illegally in Pattaya.

Immigration had kept a close watch on a house in Chalerm Prakiat 6, Nong Prue, after a tip that a lot of foreigners were coming and going and they didn't look like tourists.

Immigration managed to get a sneak peek inside and saw the Chinese at computer terminals in the living room on the ground floor.

They then moved in and arrested the Chinese under labor law legislation and not reporting their whereabouts.

Their visas were all in order but they had no right to work.

They said they had been hired by a man called "Ayun" for 40,000 baht a month to work on computer programming.

It was all connected to online gambling.

The Chinese claimed that they were stranded in Thailand due to the pandemic.

They were read their rights by an interpreter and taken away.

The gambling connection will be further investigated.

Naew Na repeated their standard lines that this was all part of orders from the top to keep Thailand safe and round up law breaking foreigners.
