A Chulalongkorn University team has come up with a design to convert the old Southern Bus Terminal into a mixed-use terminal that has restaurants, retail shops and green areas.

The Transport Company is planning to return to the original terminal on Baromratchonee Road once the concession at its present location expires in 2025.

The company hired Chulalongkorn University to study options for the redevelopment of the old terminal, and the university has come up with a design that also includes greenery to serve as a “green net” for pollution.

The university has also suggested that the company consider having private companies join this project as a public-private partnership.

Initially, this mixed-use project was estimated to cost around Bt4.66 billion and take around four years for design and construction.

Mixed use...  I'm so bombarded by the socially justified wag(ging) tongues, I thought this was going to be about men and women and different colours of skin.  Sad, really...

I'll probably never use it, but good on the transportation company to expand the terminal for multiple uses.
