Work permit expired

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I'm wondering about the work permit expiration regulations. I forgot about the expiration date of my WP and after about 3 weeks later I found out that it's out of date. I consulted that with the HR in my workplace and we applied for a new WP. So basically I have a new work permit in my hands, but my visa status is  not the obvious thing for me right now. From my research and understanding, my "visa" is not technically a "visa", it's the extension of stay (issued at the immigration office in Thailand; exemption stamp converted to this sort of non-b). I have a new work permit, but it's obviously not technically "connected" with my old visa in any way. My current "visa" is based on the old work permit, so is it still valid? Am I overstaying? What should I do considering the "covid situation" fact?

Your extension of stay based upon working is still valid. Many people have had lapses of their work permit and never had a problem.

Thank you for your reply Joe. And how about the period when my old permit was invalid? I stayed in the country for about 3 weeks without valid work permit. Is it considered as an overstay?
