Strange Advise

Featured Replies

I’m right outside a very rainy Soi 5 Immigration. I want to change from my non-immigrant OA visa to an extension - Marriage. The reason: to avoid the mandatory insurance requirements of the OA visa, set to expire Nov 11, 2020.

I’ve got all the paperwork, I think,  including bank letters. At the photocopy place beside I migration a staff member told me 1) you cannot change from an OA to a marriage visa, and 2) the marriage visa requires the in patient+out patient Insurance that the OA does.

Please help. Cheers

I don't think you should pay and attention to what to the people in copy shop said since it is completely wrong.

There is no insurance requirement for a extension of stay based upon marriage in clause 2.18 of the immigration order. Many people have done the same thing you want to do.

You can apply for a marriage extension, health insurance isn't required.

Thanks ubonjoe and jackdd.. I went in and was told to come back on Oct 11, 30 days before my OA expires. That’s a Sunday. After treating me like he was the creature that bulldozed Arthur Dent’s house and planet, Oct 12 Is the new date. Such a contrast to all the other staff.
