Yawarat Gold Shops

Featured Replies

I am visting BKK later this week and plan to purchase a Thai Gold Baht bracelet. I have been told by several the best place for this purchase is Yawarat. I did a Google seach and came to this Web link: http://www.bangkoksite.com/BKKCity/P5.htm

Can anyone tell me the name of the name of the shop with the caption "One of the most well know gold shops"?

Thank You

Just go to Yaowarat and buy from any shop. They all have the daily gold price (in baht per baht) written on the windows. Unless you come across a shop with darkened windows they are all good. Some have more elaborate designs than others so it is well worth spending a couple of hours looking around.

Yawarat is recommended because there are so many shops there, but (almost) any shop will do. Thai gold is 22-23k, 'Chinese' gold is almost pure, 24k. Both varieties are much softer, i.e. wear faster than 14 or 18k.

I advise to buy a solid bracelet, not one with hollow links.

The shop name is Hua Seng Heng. The branch we use is located on the corner across the street from the White Orchard hotel and could be the same one in picture. Very popular shop.
