webfact Posted October 2, 2020 Share Posted October 2, 2020 Two Myanmar men held for crossing over illegally By THE NATION Two Myanmar nationals were arrested on Friday in Mae Sot’s Wat Luang community after officials were tipped off by residents. The men, aged 30 and 20, confessed they entered Thailand illegally by hiding in a truck that was driven across from Myanmar via the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge. They claim they each paid Bt2,000 for the transfer. The two men held no identification documents and one had high fever, so was handed over to public health officials to check for Covid-19 infection. Myanmar has been hit by a second wave of infections. As of Thursday, the country had more than 14,000 Covid-19 patients and deaths stood at around 320.
