Kiwiabroad
Hi, I know this question has been asked but I would like to be specific about my situation. I am 36 and due to be moving to Bangkok to work in a senior management position for a large corporation. I have minor criminal record charges from when I was 18/19 so 17/18 years ago which I know will obviously come up for the background check. I have had visas for both the UK and US with no issue but appreciate that Thailand might be different. Is this something that having a lawyer handle the application could help with? If so are there any recommendations around lawyers to connect with? Really appreciate the help here everyone. Cheers
Don Mega
I have a work permit and no criminal background check was needed. I think the check is a thing for working in a school though. No need for a visa either. Edited October 4, 2020 by Don Mega

CHAZ1
There is no 'work visa' - You will need a B VISA and WORK PERMIT both of which must be applied for with supporting paperwork from the prospective employer. AFAIK no criminal record check is needed
JRG23
I have had a work permit for years - never had any background check done by immigration. At least as far as I know.
Satcommlee
I don't ever recall even being asked if I had a criminal record or not by the Labour department, although I did not complete the application myself. I 100% didn't need to provide any background check. Are minor offences struck off the record in your country after so many years? Maybe you are worrying about nothing. 1
CanadaSam
These things are minor worries, first, as Sattcomlee has mentioned, find out about getting it wiped off the record, then, do not worry excessively, as it was a very long time ago. Spacegoat
You'd better be careful, things are changing all the time. When I tried to apply for a language course, what the uni required me to submit first was a cert of no criminal record...
