The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Wednesday reported 15 new cases in state quarantine over a 24-hour period.

The new cases are all male and comprise:

> Six Thai soldiers who returned on September 22 from a UN mission in South Sudan (they were found positive on day 11).

> A 54-year-old Thai businessman who came home on September 22 from Myanmar and went into state quarantine in Tak (found positive on day 13).

> A 36-year-old man who returned from Hong Kong on September 23 and is in state quarantine in Bangkok (found positive on day 11). He appears to have caught Covid-19 again as his health history shows he first got infected on August 2.

> A 31-year-old Thai man who came home from the US on October 1 and went into Bangkok state quarantine (found positive on day 6), and two Americans, aged 21 and 40, who arrived on September 29 and 30 and went into alternative hotel quarantine in Bangkok (found positive on day 5 and day 4, respectively).

> Two Indian businessmen, aged 39 and 41, who arrived on September 23 and 30 respectively and went into alternative hotel quarantine in Bangkok (found positive on day 12 and day 4, respectively).

> Two Bangaladeshis – a 53-year-old doctor and 26-year-old student – who arrived on September 30 and went into alternative hotel quarantine in Bangkok and Pathum Thani respectively. (Both were found positive on day 5).

Meanwhile, one patient has recovered and been discharged.

The number of confirmed cases in Thailand has increased to 3,615 (677 in state quarantine). Of these, 165 are in hospital and 3,391 have recovered and been discharged. The death toll remains unchanged at 59.

According to Worldometer, as of 10am the number of confirmed cases has increased to 36 million (rising by 311,613 in 24 hours). Of these, 27.14 million have recovered, 7.84 million are active cases (with 67,821 in severe condition) and 1.05 million have died (an increase of 5,553).

Thailand ranks a safe 140th for most cases in the world.

The US has the most number, with 7.72 million, followed by India (6.75 million), Brazil (4.97 million), Russia (1.23 million) and Colombia (869,808).

It would be nice to know of the percentages infected based upon the total number in quarantine.  Additionally, people wonder why the Thais will not open up Thailand anytime soon without quarantine being part of the program.  The way I see it is as long as people are testing positive in quarantine who had a Covid test 72 hours prior to flying and arriving, it will continue this way in the Governments eyes, and no tourist will be allowed in without a quarantine.  Looks like we are in for the long haul folks.

The borders officially open back up; 8 Oct, 22 October is when they are turned loose. No official word says 14 days is the definitive amount of time to prove 100% no infection. And so it starts - again.

Hate to burst your bubble but the borders do not re-open tomorrow the 8th of October.  The first STV arrivals from China were supposed to arrive, but that apparently is up in the air at this time as well.

You mean if I see it on the internet it's not necessarily true?!?

Quite interesting to observe that over the weeks and months there have been hundreds of Thais and foreigners "found positive" in quaratine, but the number of total deaths is absolutly stable and does not increase at all.

There were 9 positives out of 15 that showed positive only after more than 7 days in quarantine.  It should be clear that the Tourism Authority of Thailand's idea of only using a 7 day quarantine is completely unworkable.

surely they mean  six foreigners nine  thais

They sound asymptomatic.   Everybody will test positive at some point over the years.   It is whether your body is able to fight off the kung flu effectively.

It would be nice to understand the details re: percent positive from repatriation flights? I'm sure the authorities are tracking this, and it may be available somewhere?

Some time back with these daily reports they used to state whether they were asymptomatic but lately no.

I was actually very surprised at the very high percentage that were asymptomatic or very mild symptoms. I wonder why they are no longer including that in the daily reports.

I have mentioned before that despite the relatively high numbers of new cases in the UK there are very few actually hospitalised. This suggests to me that a lot of the vulnerable people have already been infected and those that are getting infected now are at very low risk of complications.

Seems that the majority of those found positive during quarantine are Thais and yet, Thais appear to be the only people returning to Thailand that are not required to have a pre flight Covid 19 test?
