Daily News reported that the Samut Prakan Court handed down prison sentences to two Thai men who attacked a female doctor and a gurney staffer during  violence in an emergency room at a hospital near Bangkok.

Trouble erupted at Vibharam Chaiprakarn Hospital where a female doctor was giving CPR unsuccessfully to a gang member who subsequently died.

She was attacked by Panuwat and the orderly in the ER was assaulted by Niphon.

Trouble continued between warring gangs later at Muang Samut Poo Chao Hospital on the night of July 19th this year.

The court sentenced Panuwat to four years 6 months and Niphon to four years.

The sentences were not suspended though they were both reduced by half because the suspects admitted their crimes.

They should be charged with the deceased mans murder as they intervened and kept the doctor from probably saving his life, but then I am no forensic doctor and only a true and thorough autopsy would indicate if he would have died anyway without the intervention.  The other question is were they responsible for putting him in the hospital in the first place.

They now actually handing out prison sentences for assault?  Well, at least in hospitals if staff are the targets I guess.  Everyone else?  500 THB fine?

Cap the scum and be done.

It is good that they have been imprisoned but I would not have reduced their sentences, a clear message needs to be sent that injuring a professional health worker especially a doctor will carry a heavy sentence.......!!!

The sentences were clearly not long enough as the Judge knew that they would be halved because they pleaded guilty and in addition if they were model prisoners they wouldn't even serve the reduced sentences. Those scum should have got a minimum of 10 years.

Absolutely disgusting behavior.
Should have locked them up for a lot longer!
I guess they weren't able to afford the usual 500 THB fine...  :coffee1:

Absolutely!

immature gang warfare acted by grown men ... I hope the judge told them how hopeless they are and society doesn't need scumbags who behave that way.

should have doubled the sentence for admitting to being guilty.

Sounds like they don't have to serve any time in jail or prison.
