They assume you'll overstay for 120 days and want you to keep spending before your arrest and deportation.

It's very simple, if you don't have the money, the elite of Thailand doesn't want you and your dirty ways, you are beneath contempt.

Don't apply for one then.

They want everybody to think that it's possible to come to Thailand, so that Thais who rely on foreigners don't complain, but actually they don't want foreigners to enter Thailand.

OP, you have posted many threads regarding entry to Thailand. 

The requirements are clear along with the various options. Take time and research.

No "deposit certificate of 500,000 baht maintained for 6 months" is required with the application for a tourist visa.
