Residence certificate from immigration

Recommended Posts

Asking for a friend, some details

- visa done in Pattaya immigration, (I guess by an agent, but not sure)

- Live on Koh Samui, In rented house with Long term contract

- landlord has a TM30 for them staying in the property

- have a signed contract written in Thai showing they are the sole tenant for the house

They are trying to buy a second hand car, but the Samui Transport office won’t Register it, as the Non immigration retirement visa is issued in Pattaya. they suggested going to Samui immigration and show the TM30 for the Samui address and asking for a “Residence Certificate”, then the transport office will accept that to register the car.

Will Samui immigration give a Residence Certificate? Even tho the visa Stamp is from Pattaya if they have a TM30 for a Samui property?

If he changes his address back to Samui they should do the certificate of residency. It does not matter where the extension of stay (it is not visa) was issued.

So the agent in Pattaya would have given them an address in Pattaya when making their visa?

and next time the agent does their 90 day report, the agent will change their address back to Pattaya?

That would normally be done.

Samui immigration is probably the easiest place in the country to get a certificate of residence. All you need is a valid visa and 500 baht. Done in 1 hour. Just write the samui address down on a piece of paper and give it to the officer. No application, tm30 copy or anything else required. I did this on an under consideration( visa not yet approved) stamp from surat thani immigration at samui immigration a month ago for buying a new bike.
