Hundreds of pigs squashed to death in grisly Pathum Thani road accident

Hundreds of baby pigs were killed in an auto accident and many others heavily injured when a truck transporting them flipped over in Pathum Thani province at 4am on Thursday.

The accident site was like something out of a horror film, with baby pigs screaming in pain and others lying dead.

The truck driver did not sustain too many injuries and the vehicle was removed at 8am by police from the nearby Khu Bang Luang Police Station.

Officers believe the driver fell asleep behind the wheel and ran into a concrete barrier, the impact of which made the truck flip. He faces charges of reckless driving.

I think whatever the little piggies wish, they do not have any say in their fate.

I like pigs.

We used to have them on our property, took 6 months to get them to slaughter weight, and after having seen how they are killed in our village, I stopped immediately.

Before that we had a field of wild boar, about 67 of them, but I had less affection for them, nevertheless one had to admire their athletic ability.

A 2+ metre wall was no problem for them.

Minced pork......

The driver telling Porkies

RIP baby animals.

Sad how so many laugh at the suffering of defenseless Animals ... Karma = pigs store most of their toxins in their fat = eat pork get clogged arteries ,suffer ...

The bull of our wild boar herd was called Lennox, very appropiate name for a fearsome looking beast, after the boxer.

Not true regarding the toxins. Just as in all mammals, toxins are treated by the liver and kidneys and the break-down products excreted.

Time to get some cheap pork on your fork :whistling:

Seriously, what would baby pigs be used for - restocking pig farms, spit roasts??? Certainly not for the bacon and ham industry!

Looks like it’s time for a big BBQ! Nom nom ????

As if their fate wasn't bad enough they had to die on the road in the obligatory crash ????

Only water soluable toxins are treated by the liver and excreted via the kidneys - Persistant Organic Pollutants, (such as insecticides and herbicides) are fat soluable (as the farmer wouldn't want them washing off in the rain after they have been applied,), are stored in fat its a process called bioaccumulation and it was the concept which underpinned the famous book by Rachel Carson; A Silent Spring which focused on DDT.

Of more concern probably is the anti biotics and hormones that commerical famers tend to stuff into their pigs which also get partially passed on when we consume the meat.

Beats getting their throats slit and being bleed to death slowly while they wither and screem any day. ????

I recall a Churchill quote about pigs. It was something like:

”Dogs look up to you, cats look down on you, but pigs treat you as an equal” ... or words to that effect. Poor little sods.
