There should be a legal certified death rate from any ailment before it can be called a "Pandemic" ! a word that is designed to cause fear and panic throughout the population. 5% sounds like a good number, which incidentally is over 60,000 times as high as the 0.00008% of population who have died in Thailand. Unfortunately the media, for their own reasons, see fit to spread totally out of proportion news. Are they going to get up on the screen and say "Thailand, a country of around 70 million people, just suffered their 60'th fatality" ?  No, of course they are not, it doesn't sound scary enough to warrant a complete change in lifestyle ????
