Amid the COVID-19 community transmission in the Kingdom, Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday issued an urgent order prohibiting the gathering of more than 20 people in the capital and Siem Reap province as court trials have been suspended and cinemas, museums, theatres and all schools were closed to contain the spread.

The Ministry of Health yesterday registered eight new cases of COVID-19 community infection in Phnom Penh, raising the total number to 323. In his voice message released yesterday afternoon, Mr Hun Sen said the decision was made based on advice from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.

“We are required to take additional measures for Phnom Penh and Siem Reap province. I request understanding from our people,” he added.
