Yes ok if you want to hurry and try to finish before sunset. Pattaya Country club, Plutaluang and others offering a standard 1000 baht for Caddy / Green Fee / Cart at any time of the day. My personnel preference is to be showered, fed and well looked after by 3.30pm...

Where has this offer been until now?

Pray tell how you are getting 1000 all in for PCC at the moment as the group I play with would certainly be interested?

Thanks. Timing is a little too late for us.

Will let you know next Thursday 17th....if we get the voucher which then allows you to play (Mon to Fri) week after week for 1000baht all in (not time restricted) and whether that voucher is transferable.

4 of us played Pattaya cc today for 1050baht all in T off 1.12pm We each received a voucher for 1000baht all in package Mon to Fri /1500baht weekends ...vouchers must be used by the 24th December then can be used again and again and again in a rolling 7 day period...nothing to say the vouchers not being transferable.

I had never played there before and i would definitely go back, course has ongoing improvements going on but i thought it was very good for the price.

Do you need to book ahead at Pattaya CC, or just show up?

I would always ring 1st anywhere....hopefully to confirm what i already know......

We normally book just to be sure although it is not busy except for the odd tournament day.

Rayong golf courses have been closed per yesterday, as far as I know

and most courses now have their own promotions, PSC prices hardly give an advantage anymore - I'm not even sure it's being actively followed up at the moment

Psc have some up to date offers vouchers etc but there general price list for over 30 "Local " courses are updated every month ...and sometimes within the month as well.

I know... it used to be very useful, but most courses I talk to nowadays quote me directly the reduced price without anyone mentioning PSC.

Unfortunately, the Governor of Rayong Province has just ordered that Rayong Green Valley, Eastern Star and The Emerald golf courses to be closed due to COVID-19.

"I know... it used to be very useful, but most courses I talk to nowadays quote me directly the reduced price without anyone mentioning PSC. "

So 38 courses quoted on Psc i take it that "most" would mean more than half so ...name those 20 odd courses....please.....or better still rather than trying to get financial reports of all the local clubs just get yourself and like minded persons onto the Psc committee and get better golf rates......lot cheaper and quicker than buying or building a Golf Course.

it's not a game.

lately, I played Pattaya CC, Parichat, Bangpra, Burapha, Laem Chabang.

none of them asked me any PSC credentials to give me the discounted rate.

Thanks for the reply...never played Parichat Bangpra and Laem Chabang is too rich for my blood.

So on the second point do you not see any mileage in negotiating better rates from within Psc rather than buying or building a your own Golf Course....after all the reason you started other topics was for better rates?

are you a keyboard warrior?

obviously we live in different times now than pre-covid. I hope things will return to normal also for PSC discounts.

regarding the "own golf course" - it's not just about rates, it's about getting a better overall golf experience, for expats in particular.

this means of course no compulsory per-round fees for members, but it also means club life (tournaments, other events), a more cozy bar/lounge, etc.

I will ignore your 1st comment.

Psc probably has more than 500 members (?) and if an approach was made to say Pattaya CC wanting what you have mentioned above do you not think that they would be accomodating...if 500 people were to join on mass??

9 hours ago, keithsimmonds said:

from the web site but active members probably severely depleted of late -

Quote

Pattaya Sports Club has now grown to over 40,000 members and there are over 11,000 active members on the roles. What started as an occasional golf outing among close friends is now daily golf competitions, darts, ten pin bowling, soft ball events and regularly scheduled fishing.

I don't completely disagree with you however a friend of mine who organises golf has pretty much made similar comments about the current efficacy of PSC in relation to golf. At least they still provide a base line for prices to work from. Unfortunately they still manage to get that wrong on their price list for some key prices on a not irregular basis.

Yes most courses don't bother to ask for proof of membership but I think that is partly because they think nearly all foreigners are members anyway.....

As a group we have better prices than PSC on a couple of courses. My friend's argument is why bother with PSC if he can get the same himself or via Birdie with coupons. I would counter that personally with my base line comment above.

Not really a fair comparison currently. Most courses will take what they can get  - almost more like dog eat dog to survive perhaps....

PSC organises tournaments - we (as a group) don't participate for various reasons - if not only due to slow play.........

Are they good events?

I still don't see this for any course at the moment unless the value was uneconomical for the course in the longer term

I've only participated in a couple so far, and both during covid, so I might not have experienced the usual.

I gave PAGS a shot too, also during covid.

Neither suffered from unbearably slow play in my opinion.

Both competitions were ok, and a good opportunity to get to know new people.

For the results announcements, I like PSC's Mabprachan venue better than PAGS' Jomtien pub venue - I liked the food better and I can't understand most of what is said in the pub due to the sound system being tuned for music and not for voice. But prizes seem better at PAGS, higher turnout too.

PAGS has the advantage of the handicapping website Birdie.

But I'll happily continue to play with both PSC and PAGS.

Never played in a Psc comp/event so cant comment (i thought they were nearly all Texas scramble comps/events?)

Pags on the other hand...played in my first one in September at Burapha and was impressed (played in every one since (3 more) My fears were crowded changing rooms before and after the round and 5+ hour rounds waiting on every T box....to the contrary they were all very well organised imo and the evening presentation and prize giving in Hemingway's was a painless affair, a decent buffet and prizes were done and dusted in under 30 minutes.

I will further add imo both Psc and Thaivisa should challenge all offers from golf courses and not just post/advertise them with there blessing.

If this second Covid lockdown increases and more courses are closed, then some courses will suffer a lot more than others. Imho i would put Phoenix at the top of that list as imo there all in and even walking cost will not get the foot traffic they need and there overall running costs must be considerably higher than others...other than the odd society who plays there???

Probably because courses are still running sport days and other promotion.

No need to be a member of any organisation to get the rate.

PSC rates are really only workable in high season, when all the promotions are stopped.
