I would like to know if ,

I have done two trips to Penang in a row , so thats 180 days , now can i do six months of trips across the border for stamps ? or does that 180 days only apply if i have actually left the country ?

Thanks

The rule is you can not stay more than 90 days in a six month period on visa exempt entry stamps. I must assume you obtained tourist visas in Penang and extended each for 30 days to make the 2 trips/180 days figure. They do not count toward the six month period. It starts when you enter on a visa exempt stamp - so if you enter next week on the 15th you will be allowed 90 days from then until six months later (November 15) on visa exempt stamp entry. So no you can not obtain visa exempt entry for the next six months - only for a total of 90 days.
