webfact
E-cigarettes: Young Thai faces THREE years in jail for running 100,000 baht a day business Picture: Thai Rath Bowon Mongkol police and general information officers arrested 26 year old Thanakrit yesterday evening at the Bangyeekhan Condominium in Bangkok Noi, Bangkok. He was running a lucrative electronic cigarette business out of his condo utilising a Facebook page under the name of Jenny Natacha. He said he had been in operation for a long time and was processing 40-50 orders a day worth 100,000 baht. Taken into evidence were 50 electronic smoking devices, 120 bottles of vaping fluid, 40 batteries along with empty bottles and packaging. The suspect faces three years in jail and/or a fine of 600,000 baht. Thaivisa notes that the Facebook page is still running and has a main picture saying "Jenny Vape" as well as clear availability of products. Thailand takes a dim view of e-cigarettes especially their importation and distribution. In Malaysia and Vietnam, he could probably join the Rotary Club or the Chamber of Commerce. Some Thais are much better off not living in Thailand.

jaiyen
Just goes to prove that many Thais are trying to give up smoking but the corrupt government wont help them. They want people to buy cigarettes as there is big tax and profits. As usual, they don't care about the people.
