Discussions ongoing to open Thai border

Featured Replies

Cambodia and Thailand have agreed on three points of an agenda related to opening additional border crossings and allowing Cambodian workers to return to work in Thailand.

A specific date for opening is to be determined pending further medical studies to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Announcement of the progress came after a meeting on December 17 between Cambodian and Thai leaders, held at the request of Thailand’s Sa Kaeo provincial administration. The meeting took place at the Ban Khao Din-Phnom Dey international border checkpoint between Sa Kaeo’s Khlong Hat district and Battambang province’s Sampov Loun district.

Please note, for Cambodian workers only - not other foreigners, ex-pats etc.

With respect why? So that Laos workers can also return to jobs in Thailand? If you are thinking of "visa runs" it is probably going to be a very long time before this happens.

No....so that us who live up in Issan , can send the wives across to bring back all the French wine, Lao Beer and spirits at about 70% less than what you can get in Thailand.................:coffee1:

Yes indeed, as here in Cambodia, a legacy from French Colonial days - such wonderful varieties of daily fresh white, whole meal and whole grain loaves and "sticks" in supermarkets, local bakers and patisseries.
