jonwilly
I normally place my iMac in sleep mode and most times it stays in sleep until I wake it up. However occasionally say every 3-4 days it wakes up. I thought the internet connection could be causing this but after disconnection cable it still happened. I have Norton security and Malware bites loaded and neither help. Any ideas ? john Edited December 20, 2020 by jonwilly
sometimewoodworker
Check if you have “wake for network activity” enabled. Also Norton is a suspect.

John435
Wake for network activity would be in the system preferences. Type wake in the search box when you open it to find out where. Another thing you could try is to open Activity Monitor and look for any applications ’preventing sleep’. You may need to select a view option to see this column. phetphet
Just a thought. Could a power surge cause your Mac to wake?
jonwilly
Thamks for all advice, made a change in Energy Saver. I supose a power surge could be cause of the Waking. Now must wait and see what happens, or comence Shutting down each end of day. john
