I've come in on a 60 day tourist visa and am currently in ASQ. I'm hoping to convert to an ed visa and have sent my docs off to a school in Chiang Mai. All being well that will be approved in time. My passport is nearly out of space but the plan was to get the 90 day ed stamp in Chiang Mai first, and worry about renewing the passport once I've got that breathing space. That does depend on getting up to Chiang Mai though (at least I would assume it does). I was intending to go down to Krabi when I get out next week, and my best guess is that that will still be possible, but I'd still need to get up to Chiang Mai in mid Jan, and by then we may well be into lockdown.

Say I get stuck in Krabi (or can't leave Bangkok in the first place), what are my options at that point? I have space in my (UK) passport to extend the TV and still get the ed visa, as long as they don't put the extension stamp on the 1 full page I have left.

If I can't get to Bangkok to apply for a new passport, I will have to do it online. If you do it at Trendy Building I believe they take care of the visa transfer letter for you, but does anyone have experience of renewing online and having visas transferred over? I'll ask about the process in the UK embassy forum too.

The lockdowns before were for where you are staying when they were implemented. If in a safe province you could still travel other ones.

As far as I know there is no online passport application you can do here in Thailand for a UK passport.

Go through the steps here to confirm. https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

Trendy shutdown when the first outbreak occurred and many people had to wait until they reopened to do the application.
