What is scary about this is that as the article says as well as the Government, many are afraid of coming forward due to the illegality of the gambling itself.  Then add in the fact that after they were there and possibly infected they may have gone who knows where else.  Contract tracing is definitely not being done with these unknown people.

I don't think that the shrimp market is that significant as such.

 

It is more the deliveries and collections by transport drivers who could inadvertently get Covid from perhaps an asymptomatic  worker  and carry it to other markets. and spread it that way unknowingly. From those markets it could travel through wholesalers and retailers across Thailand to customers who would seem to have no connection to the original outbreak.

 

There is a lead time from catching the virus of 2 to 3 or more days so if it turns up say 500 km and 3 days away the Health ministry will have a hard job trying to track and trace all the people. 

 

I was in Makro in Kamphaeng Phet this morning and it was quite crowded. However before I was allowed to enter I had to sign in, use the app before getting as far as having my temperature taken and actually getting into the store.

 

Everybody was wearing a mask.

Rayong has just been locked down according to the Channel 32 news I am now watching.  Must be a serious cluster they have stumbled upon that came out of the illegal gambling den.  I hope they get a handle on this before it spread near and far.

A 55 year old woman felt sick, went to a hospital in Bangkok,, they tested her and she was positive. Then yesterday 8 more cases in Rayong, today 18 more at Rayong Government hospital and two in a private Rayong hospital, waiting on results from 9 more.
 

Not sure who admitted the gambling den first, but obviously having covid is a big deal while gambling is just a small fine, so looks like they owned up and did the right thing. The news is still coming out on this one.

Thanks.  I've been trying to get a sense of the hospitalization rate per infection in Thailand vs that seen in western countries. Since the start of this I've wondered, like many others, if the virus is here but for some reason Thais (and others around the Mekong) don't show severe symptoms and/or shed as much virus.

I'm confused.On the CCSA map the provinces of Nakhon Phanom and Sakon Nakon in the north east are orange, but nowhere have i seen any cases there yet.
