Does anyone know if you (on UK passport) can still get a 30 day visa free entry at the Mae Sai border just before expiry of a 90 day tourist visa?

I seem to remember you can get three more months this way.

If not, is there any other way to get another month here?

If you have not used your alloted 90 days or 30 day entry in a six month block you can obtain a 30 day entry after a tourist visa. And you can always stay with a new tourist visa.

I think you're saying he can do it, with the stated proviso. But just to check, these are the details:-

In the last 12 months he's spent 80 days here.

He has currently been here 80 days of his 90 day tourist visa.

He wants to go to Burma (Tachilek) tomorrow and re-enter on a 30 day no visa entry.

(And get another two thirty day no visa entries after that, too, of preference.)
