Hi

I'm staying thailand under retirement visa and im about to change my address from ubon ratchathani to bangkok.

Do i need to inform immigration now or only when i will do my 90 days extension?

(Remark:

i just did 90 days report before few days.)

Thanks

You should do your change of address as soon as possible or you might be fined for doing it late.

Bangkok immigration normally only want a TM30 report done. Ask your landlord about doing it.

Do note that you would need to do the TM-30 report IN PERSON at the IO of the province where you are relocating.

Your subsequent 90-day reports are simply a confirmation that your official Immigration address (as done by filing the TM-30 as your new address) is still the same.

It's possible that you will not be able to do your first 90-day report on-line after having relocated, and would also have to do it in person for that first time after relocation.

He could also do it online.

That would be very easy/convenient, but are you sure that you can do the TM-30 for purpose of 'relocation to a new address' on-line?  I understood that when relocating you needed to do it IN PERSON so that the provincial IO is aware that this is now your new official address where you will be staying.

When doing the TM-30 on-line, it could be that you were visiting a friend who is the 'owner' of that address, and that he filed a TM-30 of you arriving at his premises (as he is supposed to do according to Thai law).  In other words, IO would not be able to determine when a TM-30 is filed  on-line whether you are temporarily visiting someone or whether that address is now your new official address.

I can only speak of my personal experience in Chiang Mai. When i moved in here my landlord did the TM30 for me online, took a screenshot of the confirmation screen, printed this and gave it to me.

When I applied for my extension I took a copy of this printout and gave it together with my other documents to immigration, nobody complained.

We foreigners without permanent residency are always just considered as temporarily visiting, we don't have a "permanent" or "official" address in regards to immigration law. The wife's house has the same relevance as any random hotel where we might stay.

I do not fully agree that the place where you are staying has the same relevance as any random hotel.

You can only apply for an extension of stay at the IO in the province where your 'official - for IO purposes - address' is registered.  When you relocated and used the TM-30 issued by a random Hotel in the province where you are staying, almost certainly your application for an extension of stay of  Non Imm O or O-A Visa would be refused.

And to do your 90-day reports a TM-30 has to be filed first, as the 90-day report is the confirmation that the address you are staying is still same as on the TM-30.
