VFS Global launches COVID-19 testing service in Thailand

 

 

Visa and immigration services provider VFS Global is now offering COVID-19 testing service to people in Thailand.

 

Tests are available at a certified testing laboratory or at a location of your choice within Bangkok.

 

“Your safety is our top priority as you begin to #TravelAgain. Book your COVID-19 test with us and ensure safe travels. With our Doorstep Service, available at select locations, you can have your test done at a place that is convenient for you!”, read a tweet shared by the company on Saturday.

 

 

 

“VFS Global provides a seamless appointment booking system for tests that are conducted by trained medical professionals from the approved and certified testing laboratories”,  according to the company’s website.

 

“Customers can have their PCR test screening done either at a partnered certified laboratory, or at a location of choice within Bangkok city limits using the ‘At Your Doorstep’ service. 

 

“The test reports are directly sent by the partnered laboratory to the registered email address of the individual within 24 hours, ensuring confidentiality of the result”, the website reads.

 

A test at a laboratory costs THB 2750, while a test “at your doorstep” costs THB 2850.

 

The move is seen as a way to help facilitate convenient and reliable pre-departure COVID-19 testing solutions for destination countries, airlines and travellers.

 

“We believe a convenient and reliable pre-departure COVID-19 testing solution can become a catalyst in the recovery process of international travel by providing an assurance to destination countries, airlines and travellers and by becoming a major risk-mitigator”, the company said in a press release.

 

Countries might even consider making this mandatory for all incoming travellers to ease the pressure of testing upon arrival”, the company added.

I think this could be great. Half the price of most of the current testing offered by the hospitals and can do without leaving your home!

It seems that they are offering this service in a number of countries, not just Thailand. Looks like a good deal to me.

On the face of it, it seems like a good service offering (if they can deliver advertised service) for those needing tests in advance of travel.

men in white coats and taken off to some quarantine centre and charged 3kbaht a day no matter if you have symptoms or not, in the UK you would be asked to quarantine in your own home

Has everyone missed the line......  "pre-departure COVID-19 testing solutions for destination countries, airlines and travellers."?

 

The UK now requires incoming travellers to have had a Covid test before flying https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england   And...there are no longer any "travel corridors" https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors

 

As I understand it, VFS handles UK passport renewals for Brits in Thailand, so is this not simply a logical extension to their "portfolio" ?

Or am I missing something?

If you test positive will they be legally required to inform the government of your details like in the U.K. ?

The tracking team, then should contact you re isolation ( hospital ) & your movements/contacts..

Jeez, who is targetting anyone?  It is a voluntary service, no-one is forcing foreigners to do it.  If you are travelling (or not) and you want / need a Covid test and you want to pay for it they will come to your house and do it.  If you don't want / need a Covid test don't call them, don't order the service, and no one will come.

Honestly the paranoia on this site is really something.  Get over yourself.
