January 19, 20215 yr Popular Post Almost 10 eh? 9? 8? I'm glad that precision is such an important quality among Thais - much better than the wishy-washy reporting in other (lesser) countries.. na ka? Edited January 19, 20215 yr by Glaswegian2
January 19, 20215 yr Popular Post Not surprising and they are only just scratching the surface here, serving these "nearly ten" people's heads up on a platter. To have many thousands of illegal immigrants smuggled in would involve a hell of a lot more officials on the take. The sheer chaos and pandemonium that all of these greedy SoB's have caused and that has affected virtually everyone's daily lives is worthy of a firing squad.
January 19, 20215 yr Popular Post Only 10 Only 10 caught so far, many, many more not yet been caught.

January 20, 20215 yr Given the considerable numbers of illegal migrant labourers, these (almost) 10 chaps must have been remarkably busy. I'm quite surprised that their colleagues didn't notice!
January 20, 20215 yr What about the responsible police chiefs, minister and PM. They all are responsible for this trespassing.

January 20, 20215 yr Hardly surprising, after all this country runs on a type of corruption economy. A policeman's job is vastly underpaid, yet much sought after, because of the unique opportunity to create wealth from the power of the position. This system thrives in many areas of Thai life, but particularly in government where the rewards can be huge. While the expats rage in indignation, the citizens are not ignorant of the system but accept it as part of normal life, while hoping one of their offspring can jump onto the gravy train. This system is not going to change in a hurry to, for example, some version of the British style of economy, with it's more hidden type of corrupt practice. The Thai system failed In this instance, because the employers still need workers with whom they can maximize profits by paying peanuts. The smugglers are too greedy to pause their income, and all parties are generally too dumb to consider the ramifications of people smuggling during a pandemic.
