On Friday, Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that many of the restrictions put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 have now been relaxed.

For people in Hua Hin, this means the resort’s bars and pubs are allowed to open once more - and from 1st Feb can serve alcohol. Social distancing measures must be in place and the number of customers must be limited in certain circumstances.

Live music is also permitted but a ban on dancing remains. All venues must close at midnight.

Restaurants are also allowed to open and can serve alcohol but must also close by midnight.

Following the announcement some of Hua Hin’s bar owners swung into action to ensure their venues were ready for opening.

“We’re delighted they have given the green light to re-open”, said David Long,  manager of Hua Hin’s popular Irish pub, Father Teds

“This year has been challenging like no other and hopefully this will be the last time bars will be ordered to close.

David said the staff were already preparing Father Teds to re-open.

“We’ve got plenty of Guinness, have stocked up on Leffe and got all favourite Thai beers too.

“We’ll be serving food all day and night, as always, and have lots of evening entertainment and music planned over the coming weeks, so come down and join us, David said.

Away from bars and pubs, Hua Hin’s shopping malls can resume their normal opening hours, with the only restrictions being they are not allowed to organise events that bring a large number of people together.

Massage parlours and spas can also open as normal, while gyms, fitness centres and boxing training camps can open too.

Schools also re-open from Monday (1 Feb).

Restrictions remain in place regarding travel into the province, with those travelling from ‘high  risk areas’, namelySamut Sakhon, Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Nonthaburi required to undergo screening.
