Songkran 2021

The extra holiday on Mon 12 is published and will stay in place.

So with or without any mass event it will at least be the usual stampede back home/exodus from Bangkok/eastern seaboard and elsewhere starting Fri 9 or Sat 10.

And to be honest: I hope we will have the granddaughters here to visit.

No Songkran madness required.

Of course another bad Covid surprise exempted.

I ask because I have some business to deal with in BKK early-mid April (2 trips to BKK will be required) I can bring my business forward and get it out the way in March, so I think I'll do that, as there will still be extra holidays and people moving around in April. Thanks for replies, everyone.

As written, I still expect a lot of traffic in the period of April 9 to 19 (maybe limited to 10 to 16 but hard to foresee). Avoid it.

Any holiday that marks the number of daily deaths needs to be revisited.

????

The "deadly days", common myth/propaganda.

Over the years there is hardly a raise of road deaths during such holidays.

The usual carnage. Typically 60 to 70 deaths EVERY day.

75% or more were motorcycle riders.

My POINT is the headlines during Songkran are "How many died yesterday? All week?"

Has anything been said yet regarding Songkran festival this year?

I'm certain the "government" will make a firm decision, after a few fits and starts, on/around 9 April 2021.

There will be many rules, all different in different provinces. Talc powder sales will probably be controlled. ????

ThaiBev and Boon Rawd probably lobbying hard against any alcohol bans.
