TAK (NNT) - Schools in Mae Sot district of Tak province are now closed for a week, making the district the highest controled area declared by the provincial governor following the discovery of new COVID-19 cases.

Schools and nurseries under the supervision of Mae Sot City Municipality, the local primary education district, as well as private schools in the area are now closed from today, but are scheduled to reopen on 15th February.

This sudden closure of schools is because of the continuous spread of COVID-19 reported in the area. All class activities are now moved online during the period of school closures.

With other schools now closed, Sappha Wittaya School which is the high school educational hub of Mae Sot district remains open, with some classes arranged online to ease crowding at the school. Strict public health measures are being implemented at the campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

According to Tak Provincial Public Health Office, 24 cases of COVID-19 have been reported since the beginning of this month in Tak province.
