The result was based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings from TripAdvisor travellers for accommodation, restaurants, and things to do in destinations worldwide between 1 December, 2019, and 30 November, 2020

wonder who were the type of people voting and their standards to rate quality for accommodation/restaurants, etc., everybody has different standards thus all these TAT reports are full of the usual weekly postings BS

Pretty much the 2019/20 high season was over at the end of january, when all chinese package tours were stopped.
even tourists from all other countries tried to cancell holidays, bacause thailand was named as the second dangerous after china itself.
there were warnings from many health authorities not to travel.
so big surprice, because many other tourist destinations, including the UK, but also italy, were opened all/most of time, till the second wave in september

It is not a TAT list, it is a Trip Advisor list and nothing to do with the TAT (other than them publicising it which is understandable as their job is to promote Thailand).  Why does everyone get their knickers in a twist about this stuff?  Thailand is / was a popular destination loved by millions of holiday makers a year.  Only the old gits who've lived here for years and become bitter and full of hatred for the country can't admit that.

I left Phuket on March 10th last year and beaches and restaurants were full, at least in Patong.
