No it's working (True ADSL Bangkok).

However, I notice something strange... With "tracert", after 2 hops on True servers, the connexion is going to a strange IP : 10.169.74.1, before to continue on a normal path.

A big "filter" from ICT ?

A tracert on "www.youtube.com" shows the same pattern (True, then 10.169.74.1) then after some IP at CAT (dead end).

A whois shows that the name of the domain is... "IANA-NETBLOCK-10". A private block of IP addresses.

Here is a paper about those "bogon ranges".

If you make a "tracert www.metacafe.com" do you see the IP address 10.169.74.1 ? And what is the last IP address of the path ?

There are three sets of 'private' IP addresses which are reserved (10.0.0.0- 10.255.255.255, 172.16.0.0.-172.31.255.255 & 192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255). They are widely used inside private networks as they don't need to be registered with any internet body. Whilst they won't appear on the internet they will appear if a traceroute passes through a company network that uses them internally.

On Maxnet metacafe resolves, their small logo appears in the address bar along with the name of the webpage on the top of your browser window, but then the whole thing freezes!

On Maxnet this happens a lot with blocked pages, I never get the "eye" logo, but mysterious errors or pages just failing to load!

Blocked here.True adsl lad prao.

This sucks....

Metacafe just works fine at 8.55 this morning!

Look at pic:

It works now.

but as free exchange of video clips it does posses certain concern to ministry and hence being very closely monitored.

What you've witnessed was not a blockage, but a test-drive of big-mama filter on the **** floor of **** building.

By the way, the "Big Mama Filter" is gorgeous black rack, courtesy of Sun Microsystem, and capable (no sh*t) to filter lotsa traffic through. Hence it called, right ?

Blocked by the imps at TOT (Pattaya). One more reason to use TOR.

No pasaran!

Sunny

Well guys, you are lucky, here in the building I live ( a shared connection) in CM ,MetaCafe has been blocked a month already...

I wonder how much of this has to do with ISPs and CAT realizing how much less their international bandwidth usage is without the video sites, and that they've found a convenient scapegoat to drag on these blockings for as long as possible?

am i living in a communist country or what ?

they block a lot pages for a long time.....

But has nothing to do with communist, most asian countries block, as well usa and europe always try new tricks to censor content but not really successfull....

Can't open it from my office neither. True ADSL Thon Buri. Will try from home, but chances are it'll still be banned. Very annoying, I don't want to think about what's going to happen next, maybe yahoo.com banned? Or google.com?

Too many well connected Thai businesses advertise on Google and Yahoo for that to ever happen without extreme provocation.

metacafe works fine for me on maxnet at 11:40am mon morning in Phuket :o

The Thai authorities have blocked the www.metacafe.com web site (at least in some parts of Thailand) because of the following videos (among others):

* http://www.metacafe.com/watch/444150/colon...vasion_crimes_2

I noticed this when I was on True a while back. I think it's True's internal network, they shouldn't really be using private IPs for routing things out though, maybe it's static NAT, god knows. It's True.

I can get there TTT Maxnet in CM..Site is slow though.

for the previous posters 10.x.x.x and 192.x.x.x addresses are called "legal illegal" addresses and they don't route across the internet. They exist for companies to use behind legal and route able addresses via of NAT -- network address translation.

If your doing a traceroute etc they indicate your still internal to your ISP or provider. Once you leave your ISP's gateway an 10. or 192. address will not ever be reported from the outside.

Able to see metacafe. Maxnet, Phuket, 9 pm.

Now the pentagons gone on a blocking spree, different reasons though. Clicky

That is a very different situation - Pentagon, like a lot of companies - are blocking websites they deem irrelevant for their workers. They are not trying to control what individuals can see from the privacy of their homes when they are not at work.

The Defense Department has decided to make it impossible to reach 13 Web sites from its network, citing an overabundance of “recreational traffic.”

Yup, better to focus on flying object headed to the pentagon than jerking around with videogames :o
