Pretty basic to me

I quite understand.

For some, flying a spaceship will be pretty basic too - not for me!

I just get tired of moaners about technology because they can't use it. Not a word of what i said is untrue. Your own post prove how bad your with technology. Anyway have fun staying in the past while the rest of the world moves forward.

You live in the past, you might be smart (probably as they don't let just anyone fly a plane) but you post show little aptitude for technology if you want to go back to a time when a phone could only call.

You did not go after any of the things i posted that were improvements. Probably because your intelligence told you you would only make a fool of yourself.

I was going to reply in kind, but frankly, you're not worth the effort.

But you did, but just can't get your facts lined up because its an indefensible position. You would only dig your grave deeper. You did the best thing you could move away from the facts and ignore it.  Shows your smart in many other area's

Just some other things i remember, i remember CD's and huge CD players in cars while you can now connect your phone (that also doubles as a GPS) to your car system and have all the music you like. Spotify rules. I can give you so many good advances of technology that your arguments just would not cut it.

I get it, for some people phones are hard to handle no matter how many times i try to explain stuff to my mom she just does not get it. But that some people just can't work with it does not mean the rest of the world has to stand still.

I find it a bit strange that you as a pilot complain about advances in aviation. Planes now are better bigger more fuel efficient then before. Lot of it because of computers. I mean the planes you flew were better then WW2 planes im sure some old times then also complained about how it was better in the past. Just because they could handle that and were not confident with the new stuff.

The advancement of technology has been so fast, it has become very daunting for some. Others, who have a passion for it, take it as a challenge. They will spend a lot of time and money, just to learn and be up-to-date. They will gladly extend a helping hand for a friend or a stranger without expecting any reward - financial or other, to solve an issue with some tech gadget. We all don't have the same interests, but that does not mean the other is wrong.

I've met and dealt with many different types during my work days...

  • some, who are top experts in one field and thinks they are experts in all fields.
  • some, who knows nothing, but will keep instructing you on how to get about it and pretend to be an expert.
  • some, who knows nothing and keep blaming technology as 'stupid' and useless.

Best policy is... live and let live!

IMHO

True staying up to date costs time and money, and I am always ready to help people with their tech problems if i can. But the field is so wide i don't know it all and hit walls too Recently with my VR set in the end it was just oculus / facebook with bad software.

I believe in letting live and let live too however when people start to act like technology advances are bad then i start to give some comments. Because that is not living let living that is commenting on something that is not true.

I certainly hope my dad stays longer alive then my mom, would be daunting for her to just do bank payments. That does not mean that for all those people for who technology made life easier its wrong. It just means that she is one of a few that just can't work it. It took me ages to get netflix on her ipad and give her netflix so she could watch something when dad was watching sports. I don't even try to get it on the TV with her as i know she cant handle it.

I don't use facebook but won't say that people who do are stupid or anything. I just don't like it. I can operate it just think its time consuming and gives me obligations to others to reply ect.

Technology has made our life (for the most part) easier. I think it helped that i grew up with computers being a first adapter of stuff. I even thought about a 3d printer but did not buy one in the end because of the problems it still has. I do think for instance that its a lot of fun and useful for others. I love lazada, and just think of how many options it has given to those of us who lived further from specialist shops or need certain items. Lazada would  not have been possible without the advancement in technology.

I know nothing of linux for instance (though my nas drive runs on it) can't really do it with the command prompt just don't want to invest the time in it. Does not mean i think people who love linux are stupid or anything like that. Its a choice.

I love how easy it now is to get TV and other stuff through the internet, those things were not possible before. These things are blessings for expats. I have implemented new software for businesses and that certainly did not always go smoothly. I have been resistant to some changes in accounting and later embraced them when the functionality became better. Its all about when to adapt and if its an advance.

But most of all i am grateful for google maps, I was locked up in Thailand because I am not blessed with much geographical knowledge and the Thai address system is <deleted>. Once google maps came i drove safer and to many more places. I can now go to fishing lakes just by following a link given to someone. In the past it would only be possible for those who unlike me were not afraid to lose their way in Thailand.

My business thrives on IT and the way things are now. Distance and location has become far less of a problem. Now because of Covid many people have learned to work from home. For some its productive for others a disaster.

But yes live and let live as long as people don't call advancements stupid. Just look at advancements in agriculture and medicine. Its what humans do we advance we are never content most of us want things better. That is why things change.

I have the Galaxy S7 Plus. Recently updated to Android 11. Perhaps you need to update it?

Last update was April 2020 and update check says I have the latest. Don't have the plus version though.

I bought mine in USA before I left for life in Thailand in November 2016, right after the new King of the World was elected. $650!

I replaced the battery lately and will use it until it dies. At some point they don't issue updates for older phones. That's OK with me, it's not the center of my life. It's a useful tool but doesn't own my soul.
