webfact Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Treasury Department backs off Mo Chit Complex expropriation Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Treasury Department has decided not to pursue the expropriation plan for the development of the much delayed Mo Chit Complex, while the plan to relocate bus operations from the current Northern Bus Terminal may affect only smaller buses to prevent traffic congestion. The Treasury Departments Director General Yuttana Yimgarund announced today that the department had now decided in talks with the Mo Chit Complex development contractor Bangkok Terminal Co.,Ltd. (BKT) not to proceed with the expropriation plan to construct entry and exit ramps to the project, after receiving complaints from local residents. Mr Yuttana said the plan for the entry and exit ramps will be revised from the current plan to help affected villagers, and reduce the expropriation costs by billions. On the plan to relocate bus operations from the current Northern Bus Terminal, the Department of Land Transport and the Transport Company gave agreed to allow BKT to consider the operational feasibility of long distance buses from the project. As of now, related agencies are considering relocating only passenger van services to the Mo Chit Complex out of traffic concerns. The plan will help prevent congestion caused by large buses in the area close to the downtown Mo Chit Complex, and reduce congestion at the current Northern Bus Terminal after the removal of van services. The arrangement will however need further consideration, with more concrete details expected next month. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-02-25 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
