Hi all,

Just moved here from the UK and need to open a Thai bank account to move funds over.

Could anyone recommend any of the banks in particular in terms of low or no charges, ease of use etc.

Staying in Pattaya for now.

Thanks

I have been with Bangkok Bank and never had any problems with them. Some will say they have and I am sure they are telling their experience. Also remember that Bangkok Bank is the largest bank in Thailand.

If you are going to be transferring money from UK via Wise, then Bangkok Bank is best as it is one of Wises' partners.

Why Kwasaki gets his cash via a UK Debit Card is confusing. Does he not have a Bkk Bank ATM card?

I've been with Bangkok Bank for about 17 years, only issue has been UK end when the bank wouldn't send to Thailand direct had to send it via AMEX in Germany (cost a fortune). BKK Help line is no problem speak English better than me (and I was born in the UK).

If you want to use the monthly income route for Immigration, Bangkok Bank are good provided in the Wise (TransferWise as was) system you tell them reason is Long stay in Thailand (forget the actual phrase they use) it arrives in your account as FTT, Foreign Telegraphic Transfer which is perfect for Immigration requirements.

Isn't that what I said, apart from the problems with your UK bank.
