The Kandal provincial administration yesterday has stepped up security at a casino in Koh Thom district to ensure that people in quarantine there do not roam around freely, instead of staying put in their rooms. This comes after 22 more people at the casino tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday in addition to the 64 who were found infected on Tuesday after they moved around from room to room while still under quarantine.

Provincial Governor Kong Sophorn said yesterday that he had ordered the security guards and police officers at the casino to pay more attention and make sure that those in quarantine stay in their own rooms and not move around the building.

“I order the security personnel at the casino to monitor the CCTV footage at all times and prevent anyone in quarantine from walking freely from room to room or go to the fence to interact with outsiders on the other side,” Sophorn said. “I request those who are in quarantine to eat food brought by the authorities alone in their room and not have meals in a group to avoid the spread of COVID-19.”
