Thailand's chief of the tourism police Pol Lt-Gen Nithat Limsiriphan announced the arrest of an online fraudster preying on aspiring Thai guides.

At a press briefing at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday as reported by 77kaoded it was announced that Suphaporn had been arrested after posing on Facebook, websites and in telephone conversations to get people to believe she could offer them registration as official tourist guides.

She pretended to be an official from the tourism authorities, the police and a university professor in the business of training guides.

After receiving 300,000 baht in transfers she blocked the people who she was dealing with.

They reported the matter to the police.
