Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire in a three-storey house in the Krisda Nakhon housing estate, which caved in and trapped four rescue workers and the house owner.

The bodies of all five victims were recovered late Saturday night, after hundreds of rescue workers used heavy machinery and sniffer dogs in the search and rescue operation. Pol Col Charnrith Sapsombat, superintendent of Thammasala police station, led a team of enquiry officers today (Sunday) to question former occupants of house.

A witness reportedly told the police that he first saw flames in an old guard’s kiosk, next to the house, which was used to store several PVC tubes and an air pump.

"Police said that they would check the surveillance cameras installed in and around the house to find out if the fire was an act of arson because the house owner, who died in the tragedy, had posted a statement on Facebook claiming that he had received an arson threat due to his political affiliation."

The above paragraph shown in the original article was left out of the ThaiVisa copy. ThaiVisa "editorial/journalist" staff should learn how to "copy" and "paste" ... 555.

Got to be careful using the word “arson”.....

A proper investigation will lead to whether negligent, accident or arson findings...

but don’t start with an arson investigation as that can bias findings

It's mentioned at last in the article. Thaivisa typically only copy-paste the first three paragraphs - except The Nation, Reuters and National Newsbureau of Thailand (NNT) - which could be due to copyright and agreed or allowed quote, so might not have to do with Thaivisa's editorial staff; and the they did link to the original article, so you could read it...????

A house collapses during a fire.....whether arson or whatever, it sounds like the house itself had serious issues.

And so do the rest of the houses on the Mooban. Pleased I moved out of the house I rented in Hang Dong with similar construction. New houses here seem like a bargain comparing with houses in the West but you get what you pay for. There should be enough strength in the pillars to withstand occurances like fires and earthquakes but I am not a construction engineer.
