Thailand’s transport minister in Buri Ram hospital for COVID-19 treatment

Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob is confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, after he developed a fever of 38oC and was admitted to Buri Ram Hospital for observation and tests on Wednesday morning.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thai rescue workers said on Wednesday they had freed a Buddhist monk trapped inside a flooded cave in Thailand's Phitsanulok province, after he went inside days ago to meditate.

Thailand’s top virologist, Dr. Yong Poovorawan, says the current rate of COVID-19 infection is more serious than a year ago and suggests that the tradition of visiting the elderly, to receive their blessings, be replaced with virtual visits, to reduce the risk of infection.

For some reason, many people have this mentality, that they will not get infected with the virus that has been rampaging around the world since early 2020. Elites attend exclusive dinner parties, party-goers go clubbing night after night and many social events have seen attendees standing shoulder-to-shoulder…. all without face masks.

BANGKOK (NNT) - The fresh COVID-19 outbreak in Bangkok has spread to different areas and sectors, including political circles. MPs have isolated themselves and refrained from attending parliamentary meetings. Some cabinet ministers, who are at risk, have had to suspend their duties to observe the 14-day quarantine. Transport Minister, Saksayam Chidchob, is one such minister, after a transport official tested positive for the virus.

PHUKET:-- Phuket Public Health Office (PPHO) Chief Dr Kusak Kukiattikoon has revealed that eight people in Phuket have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19.
