CAAT Needs Covid-19 Vaccines for 20,000 Personnel in Aviation Industry

BANGKOK (์NNT) - The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) is seeking Covid-19 vaccines for frontline personnel in the aviation industry as the country sets to reopen to foreign visitors.

 

CAAT office director Suthipong Kongpool said there is an urgent need for people in the aviation sector and the vaccine being sought is for vaccinating employees of Thai-registered airlines. It’s a confidence-building measure for both tourists and those providing the services.

 

He said the CAAT estimates about 20,000 people, including pilots, cabin attendants and ground service staff, will need vaccinations before international travel resumes.

 

Suthipong said the CAAT has scheduled a meeting for Thursday to assess the aviation industry’s readiness to return to full operations when the country reopens its borders and dealing with overseas visitors arriving in Thailand without having gone through quarantine.

 

The CAAT believes Chinese visitors will be the first to return to the country as China has managed to effectively combat Covid-19, adding that there will be 36,150 domestic and international flights this month, representing a 7% increase from last month.

Smells like a plane-wreck of epic proportions.

 

Forget the vaccine, order all the black spray-paint you can.

 

Clearly there was/is no plan for re-opening, just dozens of groups jockeying for vaccinations.

Has China really combated the virus?   I read a news story that mentioned, the small percentage of the population

of China that has been vaccinated., so far.   If that is true, be smart Thailand, no international travelers allowed who have not been vaccinated,

or you may well have a wave of corona virus that you will regret.  Get your population vaccinated, do a lot of praying that

you do not get the Brazil variant of the virus, and be happy that you have fairly low numbers of people who have

died so far from the virus.
