How To Find Books

hi,

my question is about a precise book but a general answer would be great as well :

I'm currently looking for a might-exist thai translation of george orwell's "1984".have been looking around on the net and found a small article on wikipedia thai that seems to indicate that they at least know what it is.the fact that the title has been translated in thai (จอร์จ ออร์เวลล์ (George Orwell)-หนึ่งเก้าแปดสี่) seems to me to indicate the possiblity of the existence of the translation ....

anybody would have any idea about how to find a thai book, it's availability, isbn, etc.. in thailand ? (I won't bother calling the nearest "decent" bookstore - would be khon kaen university from my location, as I already know it would be totally worthless - they're just helpless, unless you manage to speak to some kind of high-rank manager/director and he's in a very good mood that day)

http://www.asiabooks.com/homepage.asp would be a reasonable starting place. Try any of the larger bookshops in BKK - most have websites. Chances fairly high it won't be translated though. Considering what it's about, it probably sitis with 'one fourteenth of an elephant' on the banned books list.

Have you checked the libraries of the major universities? I checked chulalongkorn, mahidon and thammasat for you and found that book for you. I doubt there are thai translations though

If you wanna check for thai books in the future though then you could try the university libraries first to find info about that book like isbn. I dont know if theres a central search system for books though. Because that will be even better. But the university search machine is good too beacuse they should have every thai book available.
