Health officials in Hua Hin have been praised for their quick response and handling of the COVID-19 cluster in the town.

Department of Disease Control (DDC) director general Opas Karnkawinpong commended officials for quickly sanitising locations visited by people who later tested positive for the virus, Hua Hin Today reported.

Dr Opas highlighted the cluster at the Maya Pub, which he said is linked to the major cluster discovered at the Krystal Club in Bangkok’s Thonglor district.

The news come as Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Dr. Panlop Singhaseni announced a string of new measures aimed at further limiting the spread of the virus.

Among the new measures sees the sale of alcohol banned in restaurants, as well as the closure of gyms, children’s play areas and water parks.

Golf courses can remain open but social distancing measures must be in place.

Praised for a quick response, shame they didn't act even sooner and stopped places like the Maya Pub doing what it did.
