Flat screen TV's reliability

Featured Replies

I have had 2 TV's in 5 years first was a top end sony with lasted 2yrs and got a part refund on a 3yr ext warranty, next was a 9 series samsung which lasted 18 mths till the screen went and replaced and the new screen lasted 18mths as well. Both tv's had the same problem no picture just multi vertical coloured lines on screen, anyone else had these problems?

One Samsung now 8 yr old still going strong, had a Sony died after 2 yrs. Another Samsung still going strong into its 5th year.

I know experiences vary, but for me, I like Samsung TV's.

Maybe not too helpful but the Sharp LCD TV brought over here from Germany in 2011 still fine.

Wife has a Sharp bought Thailand. Maybe about 4 years old without problems.

I have a Toshiba in the UK which must be knocking on 20 years and a Panasonic plasma which is more than 20 years but did have a panel changed.

My Samsung in Pattaya The screen died after 2 years. Needed a new panel and I had to pay for it.

My condo is not occupied all the time so would temperature fluctuations have anything to do with the premature demise of the panel?
