debit card expiration date

Featured Replies

My debit card says it expires in June.

Does that typically mean it expires on June 1 or July 1?

(card is connected to USA bank, in case that makes a difference)

In the UK it is normally the end of the month. The banks usually send out the new replacement card the month before so you have it in hand at expiry date.

My guess would be 11:59 p.m., June 30, in whatever time zone your bank's computers are situated.

Likewise France.

If your card expiry is: 06/21 it expires on the last day of June 2021 (i.e .30th June).

You can no longer use that card from 1st July, 2021.

USA banks routinely send new card by snail mail two months before expiration. You have to work out with bank on delivery method and activation policy. Not always easy.

If I tell a bank, say Charles Schwab, to send my new debit card to my Thai address....do I risk having them suspend my account for no longer residing in the USA?

Or, at worst, would the bank just insist on sending my new card to a US address?

Does the activation always have to involve phone verification?

How long did it take for your replacement card to arrive in Thailand?

In case it helps to clarify, I chose the mailing option that costs $15.

I wonder if COVID-related issues will delay things.
