Crowded communities and slums in Bangkok have become a breeding ground for COVID-19, with six slums in six districts each having recorded more than 300 infections, according to the CCSA.

CCSA assistant spokesperson Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said today (Monday) that health officials will focus on active screening in such places and make space in hospitals to accommodate COVID-19 patients.

The top ten districts in Bangkok, in terms of infections, are:

  1. Huai Khwang, 392 cases
  2. Din Daeng, 284 cases
  3. Bang Khen, 284 cases
  4. Wattana, 272 cases
  5. Chatuchak, 259 cases
  6. Lat Phrao, 230 cases
  7. Wang Thong Lang 225 cases
  8. Bang Kapi, 215 cases
  9. Suan Luang, 211 cases
  10. Phasi Charoen, 186 cases

I saw that on the CCSA English version this morning, I don't think the testing teams are going in until Wednesday 5/5/21 by which time most of the residents will have done a runner, it would probably have been more effective to have just turned up unannounced, unless some of them fancy a 2 week holiday all board & bed FoC ????

And lets not forget the Justice Ministers party at a Hiso restaurant infecting upwards of 55 people and killing at least one

They've been testing in Klong Toey for a few days already. You'd imagine it could get a hold and spread pretty quickly in there.

Similar to Hong Kong, they seal districts unannounced and they don't let anyone in/out so they can test as many as they can.

One could only hope they would do that here, but we are talking about Thai nationals and not migrant workers.  Had this been a migrant housing area the whole damned place would have been surrounded with barbed wire and security guards like in Samut Sakhon.

One may wonder why more testing when the peak has passed ????

Which has been silenced by Prayut & Co .... no-one held accountable for that little mistake yet?

Waiting to hear exactly how many cases they found so far in Klong Toey itself with doing 1k tests. Just heard the big lotus shopping center was closed on Rama 4 because of Covid and that is in Klong Toey Area.

Focus turns to slums in Bangkok as breeding grounds for COVID-19

Poor people dirty like farang - spread Covid.
Rich people clean like Anutin - go to mall - spread money.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - but it's powerful stuff.

"Scenes like these played out multiple times over the last few days in the Khlong Toey slums where a new Covid-19 outbreak has threatened the thousands of lives that live there. Crowded, densely packed, and with poor sanitation, the authorities worry that an outbreak here could be the straw that breaks the back of Thai healthcare system."

Keep packing asymptomatic cases in field hospitals instead of allowing them to quarantine at home and "Breaking the back of the Thai Healthcare System" will be a self-fulfilling prophesy - guaranteed.

I read it has already peaked so everything should be fine …. The malls are still open right ? Well then how bad could it be really ????
