Phnom Penh man detained for “knowingly transmitting COVID to numerous people”

Featured Replies

The Ministry of Information has disclosed a shocking case of a Phnom Penh man who infected 5 people with COVID – and put hundreds of others at direct risk due to his deliberate failure to obey health regulations. On March 21, 2021, the man, named as Pech Kosal, had contact with a friend in O’Russey market.

On March 22, 2021, he learned that his friend had tested positive for COVID. He went for a test at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital and got a negative 1st result, and was instructed by medical staff to quarantine for 14 days.

On March 27, 2021, Pech Kosal went for a second test at Boeung Trabek High School with negative results and continued to quarantine at his home. On April 2, 2021, Pech Kosal went for the third test at Boeung Trabek High School and had to wait for his test results for three days. In this time, he was again explicitly told by medical staff to quarantine.
